The Eider Chase Welcomes New Sponsor, betting.bet

It has been confirmed that popular online betting platform, betting.bet, will be the “Principal Racing Partner” of the Eider Chase

The Eider Chase, which takes place this coming weekend (Saturday, 24th February) at Newcastle Racecourse, is one of the most anticipated events on the UK racing calendar. As a trial for the Grand National, the race sees some of the best horses compete, many of which go on to run in the Grand National at Aintree and other premier handicap races. In 2008, Comply Or Die notably achieved triumphs in both the Eider Chase and the Grand National, underscoring the Eider Chase as a significant indicator of formidable competitors for Aintree.

The Eider Chase is a perfect Grand National trial due to the often gruelling conditions its competitors endure. Contested over a distance in excess of four miles with 24 fences to tackle, the race offers challenges of its own before we even consider the adverse weather regularly experienced in the North East. Just three horses made their way around in 2011 and the going this year is once again expected to be heavy.

Seven horses finished in 2023 as Kitty’s Light claimed the first of an impressive hat-trick of wins last Spring. Trained by Christian Williams, Kitty’s Light would also go on to win the Scottish Grand National and bet365 Gold Cup last year. Kitty’s Light may feature in the Coral Trophy Handicap Chase this weekend.

The 2024 renewal is on track to be a defining one. With a new long-term sponsor on board, both racing and betting enthusiasts will be poised to see how the popular National Hunt steeplechase unfolds. It has now been confirmed that popular online betting platform, betting.bet, will be the “Principal Racing Partner” of the Eider Chase, and the wider Eider Chase Day, which comprises seven races.
